Celebrating 20 years since the birth of the first CERTATE, we aim to deliver our unchanging philosophy to as many saltwater anglers as possible. The CERTATE SW is a saltwater-specific model designed to enhance the functions of the CERTATE, tailored for use in the natural marine environment.

Incorporating the next-generation spinning reel design philosophy of Air Drive Design, an aluminum full metal monocoque body, and Mag Shield, it inherits DAIWAs cutting-edge technologies that support the fundamental performance of the CERTATE. The CERTATE SW builds on this lineage, refining the essential performance required for saltwater-specific applications.

The primary focus is on rigidity and power. It is designed for targeting species such as bluefish, dorado, and flathead bass, typically using PE lines of size 2 to 3. Such fishing games may occasionally require handling larger-than-expected catches. To address this, the monocoque body has been enlarged, and the large-diameter drive gear stored inside has been made thicker. Additionally, the engine plate supporting the gear drive has been reinforced, ensuring a robust performance. This results in ideal gear meshing during high-load retrievals, achieving powerful retrieval power with minimal loss.

This optimization extends beyond the body unit. The front unit features a larger and thicker ZAION rotor, resulting in approximately 39% increased rigidity compared to the same size CERTATE (compared to LT5000). For casting large lures, a manual bail return is employed to control unintentional bail returns and prevent accidents.

Water resistance has been strengthened compared to the previous 21CERTATE SW model. The risk of water intrusion is significantly higher in saltwater environments due to the presence of salt. To prevent this, the waterproof packing at the handle attachment has been improved. The synergistic effect with the Mag Shield on the pinion area achieves a high level of waterproof performance.
